The Codes

Spent the day coding my Python final project.
It works, but not exactly how I wanted it to.
I am sure I will spend more time tweaking it.
Now I just do not want to know anything Python.

Story

I finally finished my Python Project 2.

I wrote the thing and still laughed hysterical. The project was solely text and mine is a story with the details filled in by the user.  There was a few versions of the project, but "Story" worked out the best and left room for squeals. I will post this online when I learn how to display Python scripts.

Exploding Info

I can almost not explain the elation of finishing coding assignment, running it, and the program working. I got up and danced, one of those goofy, whoo-whoo dances -- yeah really. I have been struggling in MySQL/PHP where programs almost work, but not quite. The current assignment was to extract info from a file, create 2 MySQL tables from this info and then display the info in a web table. I also added a delete button (not part of the assignment) which would erase the info from the table, but not the table itself, and reset the auto_increment of the table id back to 1 each time, i.e. so the file could be updated and display the updated info. I could not find the correct code for the reset, so I had to ask. I was so close, and after applying the code to my program, it works as I had wanted it to.

One more program to finish writing, but in a different language -- Python.

PIL

I learned how to import images into PIL today. Good think I know quite a bit about Photoshop as this graphics wrapper works just like it. I am way too tired to continue playing with this code tonight, but I should get a chance tomorrow.

I still have to figure out how to create a blank canvas to start from -- I only remember half the code.

It's Alive!!!

About a hundred lines of code later,
the Python graphics wrapper drew,
Frankensmiley™.

Python Graphics

I had an introduction to Python graphics this morning. I am amazed, even though I should not be, that only 7 people out of 15+ people showed up today. I know tomorrow is the last day before Spring Break, but come on. We were getting an intro to something new and we were told this on Tuesday. I am looking forward to working with the graphics library over break. Yeah, I am a big o' nerd.

Problems and problems

Between the car and the weather, I do not know what is going to give me a bigger headache. Car was towed. I had to borrow my Mom's car and one of the worst winter storms hit this morning, just the morning.

I fixed my code for one project, wrote another program and have 3.5 programs to go. I can sleep in tomorrow, but still have a lot of work to do.

But, I did see Gran Torino (2008).

Fixed

I do not know why, when I have a problem I have to have the professor basically say "try again" or read out loud the error line in order for me to figure out what I did wrong. Hours I spend nearing the end of my coding rope and I either have to dream about the answer, a.k.a. sleep on it, or the above statement. After my MySQL/PHP class I was able to fix the uber-stupid mistake glaring at me and now I have "happy code".

Coding like a fool

My first project in MySQL/PHP has been assigned and I have a week to build it. This is a project combining all the exercises we have created so far into a Coat Store web shop. I do not know all the exact requirements yet, but there will be menus to choose different styles and sizes. I already have 90% of the current exercise coded. I have to finish the sort code to alphabetically sort the table headers I already created. Very exciting stuff!

Click

I finally have the ability to create forms and have the "submit" button actually do something. Before this button was only clickable because I did not know how to write a program to handle the inputted information. Now I know a bit of PHP and can have results emailed. Yep, I am a nerd. and a very happy nerd at that.

* But this nerd forgot to post this entry yesterday. No one is perfect. *

Python

I finally got my programs to work!!!!

I had to go see my professor during her office hours because the first 2 programs did not quite work. I was almost there, so close, and with a couple of changes -- presto. One problem was I did not know I could reference in the same line even if it was the first time (I do not know if that was worded quite right, but I know what I mean). I still had 2 programs to write and decided to try again on my own.

No problem.
