"I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself."
– "Self-Pity" D. H. Lawrence

Rain
It is pouring
The mail just arrived
Birds are taking cover
Some do not mind the rye
Trains, drops and songs
Fill the early eve air
Cats and circus acts
Keep all entertained
Puddles gather
Friends come together
Renewed to ithe core
The mighty roar does take
No prisoners
Forget forgottens
Remember memories
Till tomorrow
Future holds
The mail just arrived
Birds are taking cover
Some do not mind the rye
Trains, drops and songs
Fill the early eve air
Cats and circus acts
Keep all entertained
Puddles gather
Friends come together
Renewed to ithe core
The mighty roar does take
No prisoners
Forget forgottens
Remember memories
Till tomorrow
Future holds

Fallen White
A thin blanket of white,
barely covers the ground.
Newly sprouted flowers,
suspended in ice.
A chill to the bones,
huddle closer.
barely covers the ground.
Newly sprouted flowers,
suspended in ice.
A chill to the bones,
huddle closer.

i find it amusing.
various accounts,
gathering,
various bits of digital information,
some important, but most not.
colourful labels and stars,
filtered, and flagged for another day,
a day that might never come.
yet there they all sit,
waiting if they will be picked,
discarded,
saved.
why do we bother,
wading through,
looking for what,
a letter from a lover,
a mother,
or rejection,
a newsletter,
buy this,
save that,
SPAM,
trash.

dance
scampering across the yard
dodging rain drops
tree to tree
they dance
the dirt of changing seasons
washed from budding branches
awaiting the warmth
of a Spring day
dodging rain drops
tree to tree
they dance
the dirt of changing seasons
washed from budding branches
awaiting the warmth
of a Spring day

A little off
We have a toaster that does not shut off,
a knob that barely turns,
a light that does not light,
two cats who do not meow,
a coffee grinder that keeps grinding,
imperfections,
some easy fixes,
others never change.

missing
Another missed post,
another missed photograph,
another missed occasion,
another missed memory,
another missed day.
another missed photograph,
another missed occasion,
another missed memory,
another missed day.

So close
The Cardinals almost won.
I almost got the ice off the driveway.
I almost had too much to drink.
The day was almost sunny all day.
I almost finished the audio for class.
I almost figured out my programming homework.
I almost cooked noodles.
I almost had a nap.
I almost finished my coffee.
I might get to bed early.

Typical Saturday
Another productive day.
Audio editing,
webpage building,
editing.
Dishes were washed,
I dried,
put some away.
Updated blogs,
watched a late hockey game,
my hometown wins.
Watched the birds,
played with the cats,
only ventured out once,
to get the mail and newspapers.

End and Beginning
This is it.
It is over.
The "it" is winter break.
Time for new classes,
Piles of homework and projects,
Endless sleepless nights,
And I willingly signed up.

Piles of homework and projects,
Endless sleepless nights,

A then B
hours fly by
seasons change
leaves fall
flowers bloom
long sleeves
short pants
hot soup
ice tea
come
go
everything changes
only question
is when
fail
succeed
bare
concealed
dry
wet

drops
list
errands
a rainy day
bustling shoppers
dodge each other
in a silent dance
to get what they desired
with the least exchange
as the rain drops fell
washing away
today

Exams
Tis the season
of seemingly endless
exams,
papers,
and
projects.
Relish over
knowing
sleep is coming,
homework will subside,
and any sanity left
might return.

sleep is coming,

..., again,
Buffalo Sabres lost, again,
Snowing, again,
Fell asleep on the couch, again,
Missed Hell Girl, again,
Just woke up, again,
Backdated this post an hour, again.
